Question by Kate C: How much is a 1966 Australian one-cent coin worth?

Best answer:

Answer by Aron R
1 Australian cent - with an exchange value of slightly less than 1 cent US - if spent in Australia.

Perhaps a few cents if included in a mixed lot of world coins, sold on eBay. Since this coin features an opossum, it might also be of interest to collectors of animal coins, particularly in a mixed lot of such coins.

There are a couple of varieties of this one-cent coin, however, that might have slightly higher values: one has a blunted whisker in the opossum's whisker on the far right, and another has a blunted second whisker from the right. These have catalog values in the .15-.30 range in average circulated condition, if you can find a buyer who may be interested in them.

Question by M M: Found a "6 Div" pin, Kangaroo on a boomerang. How do I know if its authentic?
Are there replicas out there? 6th Division was formed in 1939.. the pin doesn't look that old.. I can't identify the metal but it looks as if two different metals have been infused one on top of another, maybe bronze on some silver metal with a long pin. Looks like a hat pin.

There are several books available though I can not say which is best:
Renniks Australian Coin & Banknote Values
Layman's Guide to Australian Coin Values
Pocketbook Guide to Australian Coins and Banknotes
Australian Coins, Notes & Medals

I am not sure where you are located, but you should be able to find a good coin dealer near you. The second link is a coin dealer search engine. The last link has cross referenced values by clicking on: "Click here for Coin Values!" at the top of the page. I hope that helps.

Question by smcgomery: I am looking for any info. on Australian lunar new year silver coins series 1?
I started buying these coins when they were first issued. I am lacking the tiger and the ox. I have found a place to purchase these coins. My question is this, are these coins a worthy investment, enough to start picking up series 2? I am not wanting to know about the silver investment rather the numismatic investment. I know most of the series one coins are low mintage 52,267 for the ox to 118,697 for the dragon.

I had a lot of questions when I first started collecting coins and there were few sites that could actually help me out. One site that helped me was http://www.iccoin.com/faq.asp. I feel that the articles and resources on this site can help you in your numismatic questions. You can also contact the company for any questions you may have and they work with their experts to get back with you in a timely manner. Hope this helps and good luck on your collecting!
